Robert A Mouw
Supplier of Farm Style Draft and Crossbred Horses

Bob was born into the horse world in l95l and has been involved with both draft and saddle horses in the farm country of Northwest Iowa all his life. In the past few years he has increased his involvement with the horses to the benefit of both horses and people. Horses originating from his farm are working in Arlington National Cemetery on the caissons as well as guarding the United States Capitol as mounted police horses. But, Bob’s true passion is doing actual farm work with his horses. He currently farms 40 acres doing all the work except the grain harvest with horses and mules.

Schools

Bob is involved with Dr. A. J. Neumann in The Neumann and Mouw Draft Horse and Mule School. Dr. Neumann has 50 years experience in veterinary medicine mostly involved in the draft horse. He also is well known for his column in the Draft Horse Journal each issue. Doc was a Belgian breeder and showman and is still judging in the draft horse and mule show ring. This school is held four times each year. From Dr. Neumann you will learn how to breed, raise or buy sound, healthy animals through hands on instruction using live animals. In addition Doc will teach you proper nutrition, housing, foot care and health programs. Bob will teach you how to safely harness, hitch and drive the horse in both wagon and field hitches up to seven head. The February school will be more oriented toward the training of the young draft animal using methods Bob has found work best in 20 years of training harness animals. These schools are always held on Friday through Monday to accommodate student work schedules. The size of each school is limited to eight students to give more one-on-one time with the instructors.
